This small island on the western Coast of Zanzibar is named after the prison built in 1893 by an Arab for confinement of refractory slaves. We tour the prison facilities which reflect the harsh conditions which the confined slaves endured. We then proceed to Jozani forest. Here we walk on nature trails to experience
the peace and beauty of Jozani ecosystem. We enjoy the many animal species
and birds in the forest. We are particularly impressed by the rare Red
Colubus Monkeys.
