when
Alexander the Great took over Egypt from the Persians. Alexander founded
a new capital in the Greek style, which he named Alexandria after himself.
He died 8 years later and his general Ptolemy made himself King Ptolemy
I thereby establishing Ptolemaic Dynasty over Egypt. The
Ptolemies ruled Egypt for the next 300 years until Octavian under the
new name of Julius Caesar became the first Emperor of Rome. Cleopatra

Ptolemies. She was born in 69 BC and crowned the Queen of Egypt in 51
